League members donate, seek funding and oversee the distribution of scholarship dollars to area high school and undergraduate college students. To date, the League has distributed over $200,000 to assist students in reaching their academic goals. While in the past, Scholarships were awarded to worthy students in Middle Eastern countries, today our scholarships are donated to students in the Greater Cleveland area.

Whether combining volunteer hours in local charitable activities such as walks, etc, with tangible donations, the League is committed to improving the lives of people locally and globally.
Since 1958, when the first gala was held at the suggestion of Geraldine “Jerri” Haddad, the Lebanese Syrian American Junior League has proudly been the host of the only Debutante Ball in Greater Cleveland devoted to introducing women and men of Lebanese or Syrian descent to the community.
The Ball celebrates the achievements of both young women and their escorts as they prepare to leave high school and enter college and the community at large. It is not uncommon for current debutantes and escorts to be “Second Generation” participants whose own parents were similarly presented as they entered adulthood. The Ball is currently hosted only during even-numbered years.
July 14, 2018, the 39th Debutante Ball will be held at the Silver Grille in Cleveland, Ohio. Applications are available by request. Please click HERE if you would like an application.
